HDPE HEX 4460 (PE80+) is a high-performance polyethylene grade commonly used in pipe production. Developed with a 1-hexene co-monomer, this grade features a high molecular weight, offering excellent mechanical strength and processability.

  • Density: 0.944 g/cm³

  • Melt Flow Index (MFI): 6 (190 °C / 21.6 Kg)

Another grade, HDPE 7700, is supplied in the form of granules (pellets) and contains antioxidants to improve long-term stability. This product is manufactured by Arya Sasol Petrochemical Company, a leading producer in the petrochemical industry.

Processing Conditions

  • Melt Temperature: 205 – 240 °C

  • Extruder Barrel Temperature: 200 – 230 °C

  • Processing Method: Pipe extrusion

    • Outstanding ESCR (Environmental Stress Crack Resistance)

ESCR refers to the ability of a material to withstand cracking when exposed to stress and harsh environments. With excellent ESCR, this polyethylene ensures long-lasting durability and reliability, even under challenging operating conditions.

Strong Resistance to SCG & RCP

      • SCG (Slow Crack Growth): Helps prevent the gradual spread of small cracks over time.

      • RCP (Rapid Crack Propagation): Protects against sudden failures or breakages.
Together, these properties extend the material’s service life and enhance pipe safety by minimizing the risk of leaks or unexpected damage.

      High Melt Viscosity

The high melt viscosity of this polyethylene makes it more resistant to flow when heated. This is especially valuable in extrusion, blow molding, and foam production, as it improves shape stability and dimensional accuracy during processing.

      Excellent Creep Strength

This property allows the material to resist deformation under constant stress or load, making it ideal for applications where structural integrity and long-term stability are critical.

      Good Processability

Thanks to its non-polar structure and absence of reactive groups, this polyethylene is easy to process. Manufacturers benefit from lower energy consumption, reduced production costs, and the ability to produce high-quality end products efficiently.

      Superior Chemical Resistance

This grade maintains its physical properties even when exposed to a wide range of chemicals. In chemically aggressive environments, it ensures product longevity and operational safety.

      Very Good Low-Temperature Performance

The material remains tough and flexible at low temperatures, enabling reliable performance and maintaining resistance in cold climates.

      Excellent Impact Resistance

High impact resistance gives this polyethylene the ability to withstand shocks, pressure, and external forces without cracking. Products made from this material combine toughness, flexibility, and durability, making them suitable for a wide variety of demanding applications.

HEX 4460 PE80+ High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is manufactured using the pipe extrusion process. Its unique balance of properties makes it a durable, versatile, and reliable material that can withstand a wide range of environmental and mechanical stresses while still offering excellent processability.
