Polyethylene EX5, also known as SABIC-F00851 or HDPE GM 9450F, is a high molecular weight heavy-density polyethylene (HDPE) copolymer produced using 1-butene as a comonomer.
Designed for blown film applications, EX5 combines strength, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. Compared to EX4, it offers lower stiffness but enhanced tenacity, making it suitable for films that require increased toughness and resistance to tearing.
As one of the most economical HDPE grades, EX5 is characterized as a waxy, chemically inactive solid polymer with excellent versatility in industrial and packaging applications.
Supplied in granular (pellet) form, PE EX5 contains antioxidants, process stabilizers, lubricants, and acid scavengers to ensure long-term processing stability and product reliability.
Manufactured by Jam, Amir Kabir, and Marun Petrochemical Companies under Basell license, EX5 complies with international trade standards under HS Code 39012000.
High Molecular Weight
EX5 consists of very long polymer chains, resulting in enhanced mechanical strength and long-term durability. This property makes it highly suitable for demanding applications that require chemical resistance, structural stability, and extended service life.
Suitable Toughness
Engineered for impact resistance, this grade can absorb energy and deform plastically without breaking. Its toughness ensures reliability in applications subject to drops, collisions, sudden loads, or mechanical stress.
Good Rupture Power
HDPE EX5 demonstrates the ability to withstand sudden, intense forces or pressure without failing. This makes it a reliable choice for heavy-duty films and industrial packaging where safety and performance are critical.
Good Rigidity & Strength
With balanced rigidity and strength, this polyethylene maintains its shape under load and supports weight without excessive deformation. These properties guarantee high-quality, dimensionally stable products.
Low Gel Level
Produced with a low gel content, EX5 ensures films and sheets with minimal visible defects, enhanced mechanical integrity, and improved optical clarity. This makes it an excellent option for packaging and thin film production.
Good Tear Strength
This resin provides resistance to tearing and crack propagation, even under repeated stress or stretching. Its tear strength enhances the performance and reliability of products like bags, liners, and agricultural films.
High Tensile Strength
HDPE EX5 withstands high tensile loads without breaking, enabling lighter film structures that maintain excellent performance. This property ensures material efficiency and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing.
HDPE EX5 is engineered for high-performance applications where materials must withstand stress, impact, and pressure without compromising quality. With its high tensile strength, rupture resistance, and food-contact compliance (EEC regulations), it is widely used across packaging, medical, and industrial sectors.
